Selection of Performance of laptop is dependent upon the user’s usage. How are you going to use a laptop?
Performance of Laptop is a combination of Processor +RAM + Internal Memory + Battery + graphic Card. Each laptop specification has combination of the above. Example, Intel core i5 processor, 4 GB RAM, 500GB storage, Nvidia Graphics card, 41 Watt-hour battery capacity.
Light use : This includes activities like browsing , email and social media, watching movies or streaming content.
Medium use: Light use & professional work like MS office , multiple windows/ documents open at a time either for editing and browsing, basic gaming.
Heavy use: Medium use & content creation, heavy programing like designing software AutoCAD, Photoshop or MetLab. And heavy gaming activity.

RAM: It is a Random Access Memory. It is very straight that more RAM that means more Multitasking. More RAM helps in upgrading in future heavy software or patches. Typically 4, 8 and 16GB of RAMs are preferable. 8 GB RAM+ to be used for Heavy use like gaming, Photoshop, AutoCad. 16GB secures your laptop for at least next 10 years.
DDR3- older, slower and consumes more power. It is going to be obsolete.
DDR4 – Faster & efficient power consumption. It is a future proof for your laptop.
Storage: It is referred to capacity of your Hard Disk. Hard Disk also stores your Operating Systems ( Windows or Mac OS) files.

Battery: It is usually measured in Watt-Hour (WHr). More WHr means more battery life. Everything that is running on your screen consumes battery. Examples- screen brightness, bluetooth to your used applications.
Graphic Cards: It is referred to your quality of display on your screen. Just like RAM, the more GB in your graphic Card the smoother your games will run. The heavy duty application like Photoshop, design softwares require a Dedicated Graphic Card.

Display contains two things, one is screen size and other is resolution.
Size : These are coming in 11” to 17.3” sizes.
Resolutions: Higher the resolutions better is the visual effects. This is categorised as below.
HD/HD Ready : 1366 x 768 pixels count. This is most cost efficient and budgeted.
Full HD/ 1080p: 1920 x 1080 pixels count. It offers sharp images and good visuals. It is recommended in today’s market.
Ultra HD/ 4K : 3840 x 2160 pixels, i.e. 4 times the resolution of full HD. Everything is photo finished display. You feel wow while looking at the screen. It is the most expensive.
Refresh rate : It is the number of times an image is changed per second on screen. Higher refresh rate is recommended. The standard refresh rate for laptop is 60 Hz.
Traditional Design: A screen that folds on to the keyboard and mouse pad. It is less expensive.
Thin and Light weight: These are below 1.8Kgs It is slim, portable and lightweight usually comes from 14” and below.
Touch Screen: Screen display, zoom is editable by your fingers. It is just like android smart phone.
2 in 1: It means laptops are Detachable and Convertible.
Detachable Laptop screen can be detached from keyboard and use it like tablet. Sometimes detachable consists of two processors.
Convertible laptops can rotate in 360 degrees. It means keyboard goes on bottom and display moves on top.
Operating Systems: The preinstalled software files that manage computer hardware, software resources, and provide common services for computer programs. The most widely used is Microsoft Windows which has market share upto 82%.
